Firm gets a boost with £150k contract

By Margaret Canning

A medical software firm in Co Antrim has announced a major contract with one of the UK's biggest private health insurers.

The deal will see Blue Zinc IT's case management system TM2 used by AXA PPP patients and clinics across the UK.

Managing director Kyle Lunn said the deal would be worth around £150,000 over the next three to four years. The Castlereagh-based firm, which was set up in 2002, received £29,000 in support from Invest NI under the agency's Boosting Business scheme.

It develops practice management systems for private rehab clinics for physiotherapy, podiatry, osteopathy and chiropractic patients.

The firm said it won the business after coming up with a strategic marketing plan and taking on new staff to give it a boost in export markets.

Mr Lunn said: "Invest NI's assistance came at a crucial time for our business and helped provide the framework for the growth of the company, of which the AXA PPP work is a key strategic element.

"As one of the largest private medical insurers in the UK, AXA PPP requires innovative solutions which we can deliver through our TM2 product range. This contract with AXA is an important milestone in the growth of our business which already supports hundreds of healthcare providers across the UK, Ireland and Australia."

Invest NI director Ian Murphy said: "This latest contract success will help position Blue Zinc IT competitively as it targets sales in Australia and other export markets in the future."

Invest NI said Blue Zinc IT was one of nearly 20 companies who had been given help under Invest NI's Jobs Fund measure.

The 18 firms had created 51 new jobs as a result of the help, and more than half were already in post.
