Firms 'meet buyer' over housing site

Businesses have had the chance to 'meet the buyer' for contracting opportunities during the development of Girdwood Park in north Belfast.

The event at Crumlin Road Gaol allowed businesses to find out about current and upcoming sub-contracting and supply chain opportunities.

Hosted by Belfast City Council, the Department for Employment and Learning and the Apex Housing Association, businesses met O'Hare and McGovern, the main contractor for the Girdwood Hub as well as Kelly Brothers, the contractor for the social housing project.

Advice and support to businesses was also available from exhibition stalls including representatives from the construction industry, enterprise and education.

Work is taking place to transform part of Girdwood Park into a community hub which will provide shared leisure and community facilities when it opens in summer 2015.
