Firm's talks to expand its outlet store

Luxury retailer Brown Thomas is set to double the size of its BT2 outlet in Dundrum Town Centre after entering into talks with the shopping centre's new owners, Hammerson.

According to a report in the Irish Times, Brown Thomas is not alone in looking to expand its footprint at one of the Republic of Ireland's favourite retail destinations.

River Island and H&M are also said to be in discussion with Hammerson and Allianze Real Estate, which took control of the high-end shopping centre outside Dublin last Friday.

The BT2 store in Dundrum spans 9,000 sq ft with Brown Thomas hoping to increase that to 18,000 sq ft.

Hammerson acquired Dundrum Town Centre as part of its €1.85bn (£1.6bn) purchase of the 'Project Jewel' loan portfolio from Nama last year.

The deal also gave it 50% stakes in Dublin's Ilac Centre and the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords, as well as control of a major development site extending from the former Carlton cinema on O'Connell Street to Moore Street.
