Firms to showcase Northern Ireland talent at wind energy event

Northern Ireland's expertise in wind energy will be on show at a major technology exhibition in Germany this week. Four companies are exhibiting and a further group will be visiting the Husum WindEnergy Exhibition.

The event at Husum near Hamburg is the world's most important event for the wind energy sector and is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors.

Husum WindEnergy also covers turbine technology, the re-engineering and expansion of powergrids and supply chains for offshore and onshore wind power.

All the major manufacturers in wind technology will be taking part and demonstrating the latest advanced systems. New manufacturers, from South Korea and the US, will be showing at Husum for the first time.

Belfast Harbour Commissioners, the Global Wind Alliance, Harland and Wolff and Obelisk Energy, are all set to take part.

Tracy Meharg, Invest NI's managing director of innovation and capability development, said: "Husum WindEnergy is a unique event that will enable our companies to network with global industry leaders and keep abreast of technological developments and trends."
