Food firm takes £250k bite from US export market

By Margaret Canning

A Co Armagh food firm has announced orders worth £250,000 in the US for its health foods.

Linwoods has listings for its Super Foods range of milled seeds, berries and nuts with organic food giant Wholefoods, as well as retailers Hy-Vee in the Mid-West and Shaw’s in New England.

The company said 96% of sales of its health foods brands were through export. Sales are up 13% on this time last year.

All three of the US orders were clinched last month.

Linwoods brand manager Maeve McKeefry said: “We are all delighted to receive these new orders for our healthy Super Foods range and hope it is a sign of things to come.

“Over the last number of years we have invested a lot of time and resources into our export business, so to see it coming to fruition provides us all with a great sense of achievement and satisfaction given the current economic climate.

“However, we will not be resting on our laurels as there is much work to be done in the coming years as we try to establish Linwoods as a key player in the US health food market and beyond.”
