Food firm wins Hong Kong deal
Co Armagh food firm White’s has won a £200,000 contract with Hong Kong’s biggest supermarket chain.
The deal means White’s porridge and other oat-based breakfast products will be on the shelves in 240 Wellcome supermarkets, which serve more than 14 million shoppers every month.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster announced the export success as she prepares for a 27 company-strong Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to Shanghai and Hong Kong later this week.
Mark Gowdy, sales and marketing director at White’s — part of the Fane Valley Group — said that the company’s products were firmly established among China’s international community and had seen growing interest from the Chinese domestic market.
“Wellcome is a substantial and influential customer,” he said.
“The deal also means that we now supply our products to two of Hong Kong’s biggest supermarket chains — Wellcome and Park n’ Shop.”
