Freeze business rates to aid trade, councils told

The Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIRTA) has called on councils to freeze business rates and announced it will be seeking to set up a Small Business Saturday in Northern Ireland.

The initiative has been successful in supporting small retailers in the US. NIIRTA chief Glyn Roberts said: "In 2013, NIIRTA will be redoubling our efforts to support local traders and town centres."
