By Margaret Canning

International fast food chain Freshii is opening up in Belfast for the first time, creating around 10 new jobs.

The business will operate from a building which used to be occupied by Sony on the corner of Donegall Square West.

Freshii, which started out in Canada in 2005, already has around 300 stores around the world and serves salad, burritos and other fast food – including gluten-free and vegan options.

The company’s Irish franchisee is behind its first opening in Northern Ireland.

Dave O’Donoghue, chief executive of Freshii Ireland, said: “We plan to double restaurant count in the coming months with new outlets across cities and towns in Ireland.  We are well on track to open 40-50 Freshiis within five years as part of our business plan.”

there are already six Freshii outlets in the Republic.  New outlets are also opening shortly in Limerick and in Dublin.
