Fans of Glenavon Football Club can expect a bright future after the upgrade of floodlights at the club’s Mourneview Park ground.
Lisnaskea-based contractor McElwaine Electric carried out the £113,000 contract, funded by the Irish Football Association under the FIFA Goal Funding Scheme.
The deal involved upgrading the main floodlighting to UEFA lighting standards and the installation of lighting to a training pitch on the Tandragee Road. John McElwaine, group managing director, said: “This was a great project for McElwaine Electric, as it shows the diversity of sectors we operate in.
“The works at Mourneview Park were completed within set two week period, allowing us to provide minimum disruption to the club’s fixtures. He added: “The new floodlighting will be more efficient than the previous installation and also comes with a 10 year operating guarantee; most importantly it gives the team the opportunity to play under better lighting conditions”.
In fact, since the installation, Glenavon FC have secured a 1-0 win over Newry City, then went on to beat Coleraine 2-1 and Institute 2-1 last weekend.
McElwaine Group has been in existence for 30 years and also has bases in Belfast and Limavady.
