Gordons deal takes health biscuit

NORTHERN Ireland pharmacy business Gordons Chemists has teamed up with Co Down firm Calerrific to supply its innovative high energy biscuits.

The CalBisc 100 is a shortbread-type snack and will be stocked in all 52 of Gordons stores. The chemist's Alistair Harvey said it's ideal for people recovering from illness.

"The locally-produced CalBisc 100 biscuit is packed with protein, vitamins and minerals making it ideal for anyone who is off their food for any reason, whether as a result of illness, surgery or long-term medical condition," he said.

"They can benefit from a snack that gives them virtually all of the nutrition they need in one go. It's also aimed at active people looking for healthy sustenance while they are on the move."

Two biscuits provide 10% of an adult's recommended daily allowance of calories, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals.

"There is nothing like it in the marketplace," said Calerrific MD Alan Baird.
