Grocery firm eyes growth in pre-pack market
A FAMILY-RUN grocery business in Co Londonderry hopes to grow sales of its pre-packed fruit and vegetables to the Republic with a £50,000 investment.
Seasonharvest in Claudy is spending £58,000 on boosting its exports and hopes to build on a 10% growth in sales this year. The company is managed by brothers Kienan and Diarmaid McLaughlin and was founded as McLaughlin's Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers by their father in 1973. Invest NI said it had offered £23,148 towards helping the firm with its marketing and online sales.
Maynard Mawhinney, Invest NI's food director, said the investment had already created eight new jobs at the company which now employs 32 people.
He said: "Seasonharvest is a good example of a smaller business which has diversified successfully into pre-packed products."
