Hannan Meats beefs up its CV by winning top gong at Taste Awards
Prime Ulster beef from Moira has taken pride of place at the top table of a celebrity chef during London Restaurant Week.
Mark Hix marked the achievement of Hannan Meats in winning the supreme champion title in this year's UK Great Taste Awards by organising a 'Carnivore's Feast', featuring a complete menu of beef from the firm, at his Oyster and Chop House near Smithfield.
Hannan, which was among almost 50 Northern Ireland food and drink companies to win gold stars in this year's awards, was also named Northern Ireland regional winner and set a UK record by winning 26 gold stars - leading to a 1,500% growth in sales of one product alone in the last month.
Hannan Meats, led by Peter Hannan, who formed the company in 1989, was only the second Northern Ireland company to win the supreme champion award, following McCartney's Butchers, also based in Moira.
