Healthcare firm 3fivetwo snaps up optician business

By PA Reporter

Private healthcare firm 3fivetwo has bought an opticians practice with four branches.

It is the latest 3fivetwo expansion after the group invested £3.5m in Kingsbridge Private Hospital in Belfast and bought St Joseph's Hospital in Sligo.

Its latest acquisition is Sweeney Opticians Eye and Hearing Care brand.

The brand will include Optique Eye and Ear Care, already part of 3fivetwo.

Optique will be moving out of its premises on Belfast's Lisburn Road to a new unit at the expanded Kingsbridge Hospital, also on Lisburn Road.

There are three Sweeney branches in Donaghadee and Portaferry in Co Down, and in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Managing director Richard Sweeney said: "Sweeney have earned a proud reputation over the past 12 years for serving local communities with quality eye and hearing care, and that isn't going to change.

"What will change is that we will become the only local optical practice able to offer seamless eyecare and hearing pathways, from testing to treatment to surgery, via the technical and medical expertise of the 3fivetwo group."

Patients of Sweeney who are in need of either eye or ear surgery will be treated at Kingsbridge.
