A division of a private hospital based in the north west is to create 100 jobs across Northern Ireland.

North West Care, the domiciliary care division of the North West Independent Hospital Group in Ballykelly, currently employs 190 people and provides personal home care and practical support services to 600 clients but is to expand its service delivery into Belfast and County Antrim.

The company is to open a 'care hub' in Newtownabbey and recruit an additional 100 new staff over the next year.

Recruitment of an initial 35 new staff is to start immediately.

Liz Dallas, the chief executive of North West Care, said the decision to expand had been taken in response to the growing need for high-quality, home-based care and support services.

"With over 17 years' experience of providing personal and practical care to NHS and private clients, we feel confident that our quality led approach and comprehensive range of client services will make a very important contribution to meeting the growing demand for home-based support in Belfast and Co Antrim," she said

"The reality of an ageing population is that more and more people are requiring care and support in their own homes and we see the need for care services to this age demographic growing significantly over the next decade.

"We also provide care and practical support to people suffering from debilitating illnesses including dementia, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental health problems."

North West Care's services include domiciliary care, hospital discharge, holiday and respite care, meal preparation and handyman services.

A recruitment event will take place in Jury's Hotel, Belfast, on March 30.
