Hospitality and automotive sectors lead as job vacancies rise 14% in March

Job vacancies have continued to increase, with strong growth in charities, catering, hospitality and automotive, a new study shows.

Jobs site CV-Library said there was a 14% increase last month, with bigger rises in cities including Liverpool and Birmingham.

Applications increased by 4.6%, suggesting there are more vacancies than jobseekers.

Lee Biggins, managing director of CV-Library, said: "It's great to see that business confidence is keeping strong, especially in some of the UK's key sectors such as catering, hospitality and automotive.

"The promising rise in job numbers is particularly good news for candidates looking for new opportunities, and, with spring now upon us, this could be the perfect time to freshen up your career.

"While applications might not be keeping pace with vacancies, it's still positive to see that candidates are remaining active and we hope this number will pick back up in the months to come."
