Hughes creates 20 new jobs with latest expansion at insurance firm

Twenty new jobs are to be created at Hughes Insurance, the Co Down company has announced. The jobs are to support the broker's ongoing expansion.

The insurance provider has already recruited 44 staff since the beginning of this year and by the end of August 2012 the forecast headcount will be 306.

Chairman Leslie Hughes said: "Last year we put the infrastructure in place to support our projected growth - this year we are delivering against it.

"We are targeting a 25% market share - meaning we aim to insure one in four drivers in Northern Ireland. Expansion into new markets is also very much on the agenda."

The company, which is Northern Ireland's largest independent insurance broker, is currently recruiting sales and service advisors as well as personal lines advisers.

Chief executive Gareth Brady said: "We remain committed to staff development to ensure we continue to deliver the best support available in the marketplace."

Founded in 1977, Hughes insures over 100,000 motorists in Northern Ireland and now has branches in many towns and cities across Northern Ireland.
