Jobs boost as PwC set to hire 150 new staff
The Northern Ireland wing of a global firm of financial advisers is to hire up to 150 new staff over the next year.
PricewaterhouseCooper - already the region's largest graduate recruiter - said that positions range from school-leaver opportunities and graduate opportunities in consulting, tax and accountancy to experienced vacancies in technology consulting.
In September 2011 PwC, with support from Invest Northern Ireland, announced the establishment of three centres of excellence at its Waterfront Plaza headquarters in Belfast which will ultimately create 247 high quality jobs providing consulting expertise to PwC clients worldwide.
PwC regional chairman Paul Terrington said that the firm is keen to attract experienced staff, particularly to the technology centre, where there are already over 100 consultants providing technology solutions to clients worldwide. He added that while export markets are offering significant growth opportunities, the firm remains firmly rooted in Northern Ireland.
"We are still the largest form of professional advisors in the region, with family owned businesses still comprising the majority of clients," he said. "As well as focusing on export demand we are equally committed to the Northern Ireland market and our 2013 recruitment programme will reflect this in the numbers and composition of new staff.
"Our Higher Apprenticeship programme, which is focused on recruiting highly-qualified school-leavers for our tax department, has proved very successful and we plan to double the number of apprentices in 2013.
"In addition, we have begun a recruitment programme to identify prospective graduates to join our accounting, tax and consulting divisions when they graduate in 2013.
"Across all grades we will recruit at least 130 people and up to 150 in the next 12 months, which will help reach our target of balancing demand from local and export clients."
A number of open evenings and events are planned in the Belfast office to provide information about vacancies, opportunities and the various roles on offer and the next event is on November 15 from 6pm to 8pm for any undergraduates or graduates interested in opportunities within the centres of excellence.
The recruitment programmes for graduates, undergraduates and school-leavers are currently advertised on the PwC Careers website at www.pwc.co.uk/careers/student/index.jhtml, while the recruitment programme for experienced hires in technology is also under way with vacancies on the PwC Careers website at www.pwc.co.uk/careers/index.jhtml
