By Donna Deeney

One hundred new jobs have been created in Londonderry as part of a £5.6m investment.

The positions are spread over 10 companies, two of them new to the city, while the others mark a growth of existing businesses.

Speaking at Invest NI's offices in the city, Economy Minister Simon Hamilton said: "This multi-million investment by indigenous businesses and UK investors is positive news for Londonderry.

"The 100 new jobs being created span a range of roles and industries including software development, engineering, marketing and finance, and once in place will contribute over £2.5m in additional salaries to the economy."

Invest NI has offered £578,400 towards creating the new jobs.

The posts are being created by Mechanical Installations & Maintenance, Meritcom, Precision Group, Retail Systems Technology Limited, Junk Kouture, Click Energy, Gradon Architecture and FAST Technologies, all well established in Derry City.

The two new companies, Launch Pad and Peoplesafe are software businesses which plan to create a total of 16 new jobs.
