Leading light at firmus switches job to Bord Gais

It's all change in the energy sector as one of the leading lights of firmus energy moves on to a parent company.

Mark Prentice, former managing director of firmus will be shortly taking up a new position as head of retail for Bord Gais Energy, based in Dublin.

The role will include accountabilities for sales, marketing and home energy services on an all-island basis, as well as executive responsibility for firmus energy.

Michael Scott has been appointed to the position of acting general manager for firmus energy from Monday September 12.

firmus energy was set up in 2005 following the award of the licence to develop the gas network in ten towns and cities across Northern Ireland.

The company plans to connect over 50,000 customers during the next 25 years and is preparing for a future entry into the domestic electricity market.

Prior to joining firmus energy in July 2005, Mark was head of commercial sales for Thorntons PLC responsible for the sales and marketing of Thorntons brands in the UK grocery and convenience sectors.

Before joining Thorntons, Mark spent ten years at The Boots Company PLC in a variety of senior buying, marketing and business development roles.
