Local company ‘secures’ prestigious CastleCourt contract

Northern Ireland’s biggest independent security company Mercury Security Management has been appointed to provide a complete security solution to the one of the country’s biggest and busiest shopping centres, CastleCourt in the heart of Belfast’s busy city centre.

CastleCourt first opened its doors in 1990 and with an annual footfall of 14 million customers and over one million vehicles using the centre every year, the Centre’s security requirement is one of the biggest in Northern Ireland’s retail industry.

Lisburn-based company Mercury, which also has offices in Dublin and London, boasts an impressive portfolio of retail clients and shopping centres including the Kennedy Centre, Abbey Centre, Park Centre, Connswater and Bow Street Mall.

The CastleCourt contract was awarded following a rigorous tender process in which Mercury pitched an integrated solution that combines 24 hour manned guarding with the latest CCTV and monitoring technology to protect the assets of the shopping centre and its tenants.

A core team of 18 well-equipped guards, with fast access to additional support and resources if required will service the account, led by Mercury’s Regional Director UK and Ireland Liam Cullen.

“This is a very prestigious contract and everyone at Mercury Security is delighted to be working in partnership with the team at CastleCourt Shopping Centre,” said Mr Cullen.

“We believe that our integrated solution of manned guards alongside the latest in CCTV technology, monitored by our award-winning NSI Gold ARC/RVRC Monitoring Centre will provide vital protection to the Centre and its tenants,” he added.

Stewart McConnell, CastleCourt Security Manager, said: “At CastleCourt we pride ourselves on the excellent standards of security we have maintained over the years and we are confident that Mercury Security Management will enhance that going forward.

“Ours is very much a customer-focussed security operation so we are extremely happy to be working with Northern Ireland’s premier local security company which has an in-depth knowledge of local issues and, more importantly, how to address those issues.

“In the tender process, Mercury without doubt came out on top in terms of innovation and added value, and their experience as Northern Ireland’s leading security company for major shopping centres and retail outlets is second to none.”

CastleCourt Centre Director Paul McMahon added: “We are delighted to appoint Mercury Security Management to look after our considerable security requirements. After a rigorous and thorough tendering process, the solution that Mercury offered was by far the most comprehensive and we are very reassured that our assets and our business are in safe hands.”

Founded in 2001, Mercury operates out of offices in Lisburn, London and the Republic of Ireland.
