The dining room at the Lough Erne Resort and Spa in Co Fermanagh has been named Hotel Restaurant of the Year.

Judges of the competition, organised by the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation (NIHF), described dining at the resort as "a faultless evening with local ingredients taking centre stage".

The event was part of celebrations of the 2016 Year of Food and Drink.

Ciaran O'Neill, NIHF president, said hotel restaurants had once been regarded as the "poor cousin" of the restaurant world, but diners were now recognising the high quality on offer at hotel venues.

He added: "This competition provides a platform to showcase local produce and celebrate some of the exceptional ingredients on offer."
