Lunch isn't for wimps: Bellevue Arms, Glengormley
The Bellevue Arms is the well known restaurant/bar that teeters on the edge of the M2 bridge in Glengormley.
Just before visiting, I was also teetering on the edge of starvation and decided to treat my friend to lunch.
The Bellevue is the owner's original family home and it's evident from the staff and customers that the family feeling has not left the building. Last year the bar and restaurant had a complete make-over, adding glamour and style to the historic building.
We were seated by a friendly manager despite not having a reservation.
We chose to sit at a delightful window table and ordered a jug of water, which arrived within seconds. We studied the vast menu and admired the spectacular view of Belfast Lough and Hollywood.
I opted for the 8oz chump steak, complemented with a side of peppered sauce and champ, while my partner chose the stuffed breast of chicken wrapped in bacon with garlic saute potatoes.
Both of our meals were picked from the daily specials menu.
The prices range from £6.95 to £9.95, which is great value, considering the portion sizes as we were soon to discover.
As meal arrived promptly, our eyes widened at the huge morsels before us. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium-well, it did not disappoint. The steak was fabulous and my friend described her stuffed chicken as a 'delicious delight'.
We left no longer on the edge of starvation but on the edge of glory. I'll be back.
