Luxury Co Antrim spa set for £250k expansion

By Staff Reporter

A luxury spa in Co Antrim has announced a £250,000 expansion and the creation of 12 new jobs.

Dunamoy Cottages & Spa in Ballycare was launched in 2012 by Stacey and Jamie Hamill and features four cottages renovated from 200-year old farm buildings.

A spa with a 10-metre spa pool, steam room, solarium and relaxation areas was added on a year later.

Now the pair want to add another 12 accommodation units, plus a wellbeing centre to cater to the corporate and holiday markets.

The business has welcomed guests from across Europe, America, Canada and Australasia - and Ms Hamill said they were already taking bookings for next year.

The owners said they wanted to make the venue one of Northern Ireland's top leisure destinations.

Ms Hamill added: "I undertook extensive market research on what was already on offer locally and looked further afield into the Great Britain and Republic of Ireland markets, understood what was working elsewhere and what our area did not have.

"The cottages were a success from the start, but we wanted to offer our customers more to do on-site during their stay.

"So, in May 2013, we opened a 4,500 sq ft spa which has helped push the business on to the next level."

Robert Lynn, small business adviser at Danske Bank, said: "We are delighted to have been able to support the company through this latest phase of growth and look forward to assisting them further in the future."
