Magee team have pitch perfect at marketing competition
A team from the University of Ulster's Magee campus has come out tops in a Dragon's Den-style competition for students.
'The Pitch NI 2012 Champions', held at the W5 complex in Belfast, was organised by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Ireland in association with Northern Bank and was attended by over 100 guests, visitors, judges and industry experts.
Eleven teams of three pitched their ideas based on a marketing brief given by Northern Bank and were judged by a panel of industry experts and narrowed down to the final three who faced questions from the panel.
Magee's team 'Kayos' came out on top after being challenged to create a marketing strategy aimed at young people.
Using a strap line of 'Choose life', Kayos responded with a modern approach incorporating social media and a financial incentive and used a short video clip to convey their campaign.
CIM Ireland board member and judge Charles Fulton said that the inaugural event had proved a huge success.
"It gives CIM Ireland great confidence in the skills of local marketing talent by seeing how well they responded to the brief."
Northern Bank's marketing manager Michael McLaughlin added: "The standard of competition was higher than we could have ever imagined and the creativity and professionalism were inspiring. Throughout the event the audience were tweeting their views, which added a real air of excitement to the day."
