Maldron Hotel owner Dalata seeks partner for Dublin Tara Towers plan

By Staff Reporter

Ireland's biggest hotel group is seeking a backer for its plans to redevelop the Tara Towers hotel site in Dublin 4.

The hotel, which was acquired by Dalata in January 2016 for €13.2m (£11.7m), is on a 1.46 acre site beside the recently developed Elmpark Urban Campus.

A planning application has been filed for the demolition of the existing structure and the construction of a mixed use development to include a four star Maldron hotel with 140 rooms, a restaurant, bar and meeting facilities, and a basement car park.

However, the development will also comprise 70 residential units, with Dalata confirming that it will seek a development partner to fund and build the residential component of the scheme.

Dalata operates three hotels in Northern Ireland - a Maldron at Belfast International Airport and another under the same brand in Londonderry. It also owns the Clayton Hotel at Ormeau Avenue in Belfast.

It's working on the construction of a fourth venue, another Maldron, off Bedford Street in the city centre.
