McGinn is appointed new boss at First Trust

First Trust Bank has appointed former Northern Ireland Civil Service Permanent Secretary Gerry McGinn as its new managing director.

He has stepped down from his post as chief executive of Irish Nationwide Building Society as it is wound down by Anglo Irish Bank.

Prior to that he spent 26 years in the banking sector including seven years as chief executive of Bank of Ireland Northern Ireland and then UK operations of Bank of Ireland.

Mr McGinn was a Permanent Secretary in the civil service from 2001-2007 and has also been on the board of Invest Northern Ireland since 2008.
