Mexican chain hits town
A new Mexican restaurant is opening in Belfast’s Victoria Square shopping centre, creating 50 new full and part time jobs.
Chiquito, which will seat 230, will be the first Northern Ireland premises for the UK chain.
Its official opening takes place on Tuesday in the unit formerly occupied by Chili’s.
Chiquito was set up 20 years ago and has grown into the UK’s best-known Mexican chain. Managing director Nick White said: “We are thrilled to be opening in Belfast. It’s such a vibrant city and we are so excited to be here, opening our first Chiquito’s in Northern Ireland.”
General manager Richard Corbett said: “It’s like a bright fresh Mexican hacienda in the middle of the city.”
Chili’s and its sister restaurant Maggiano’s vacated their Victoria Square units last year.
