Minister hails Wrightbus following trade mission
Ballymena firm Wrightbus has been hailed as an inspiration to other companies seeking export opportunities, during a Northern Ireland trade mission in China.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster led the 26 company-strong Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The Wright Group in Ballymena has recently secured orders for 290 completely built up tri-axle double-decker buses from the Kowloon Motor Bus Company.
A number of these vehicles have already been shipped and are in service in Hong Kong.
Arlene Foster said she is confident that many of the companies who travelled to Shanghai and Hong Kong will do business in China because of their professionalism and the quality of their products and services.
"Clearly, the Wright Group's investments in innovation are now bearing fruit and will continue to support the future growth of the company." she said.
"Trade missions are hosted annually in key business centres and, as a result of this strategy, this market is worth around £100m in exports from Northern Ireland.
"Many Chinese companies have accepted invitations to visit Northern Ireland. Increased co-operation will build and grow profitable, long-term business relationships which will further boost our export potential."
