Mivan on crest of a wave as it reaps rewards in luxury cruise ship sector

Antrim fit out company Mivan is this week targeting more contracts from the cruise ship sector as it attends one of the industry’s biggest conferences in the US.

The company will be part of Invest Northern Ireland’s stand at the Cruise Shipping Miami event, better known as Seatrade, from March 16-18.

Mivan has been attending the exhibition since the mid-1980s. Last year it attracted over 10,000 attendees and 900 exhibitors from over 100 countries. Stephen Mills, Mivan’s business development director, said: “The Seatrade exhibition gives us an opportunity to set up meetings in advance with clients. As most of our cruise ship clients are constantly on the go, this show has been able to attract the best clients at a senior level year on year.

“The exhibition has been a great networking event for various Irish companies including many of the island's leading ports such as Dublin, Derry and Belfast. Mivan has been fortunate to share the exhibition stand with some of Northern Ireland's best exporters, including Ulster Carpets and RFD.”

Mivan has made a good start to 2010 winning over £1m of contracts aboard the Pacific Dawn and the new P&O Azura.

Working at Forgacs Shipyard in Brisbane, Australia, Mivan’s outfitting team will be onboard the Pacific Dawn for around three weeks between May and June 2010.

This is Mivan's second recent contract for P&O Australia following the successful fit-out of the Pacific Jewel.
