MLAs form new group to aid SMEs
MLAS will meet today to hear how they can help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
Alliance's Judith Cochrane will chair the Assembly All-Party Group to be launched at Stormont. She said the group will explore how the Northern Ireland political environment can assist and encourage all types of SMEs to establish, grow and maximise their potential.
"With small and medium-sized enterprises making up the majority of our private sector, more must be done to support them to grow and prosper," she said.
"In talking to individual business owners, it was clear that there is a need for better interaction between the private sector and those MLAs who have a keen interest and understanding of commercial matters.
"There has already been great interest in the potential of this All Party Group, and the calibre and variety of the business representatives confirmed to attend will no doubt ensure a productive first meeting."
