Musgrave and Irwin's toasting £1m supply contract

Irwin's Bakery is to supply own brand bread products to Musgrave Retail Partners' 120 independent SuperValu and Centra stores across Northern Ireland in a deal worth over £1m a year.

The Portadown-based bakery will make premium white pan bread, soda farls, potato farls and pancakes under the FreshBake brand for the retail group's stores.

Musgrave Retail Partners trading manager, Lisa Muldoon, said: "It has been a long time since SuperValu and Centra stores have stocked an own brand everyday bread range, but because shoppers are, more than ever before, looking for quality and value, the time was right to introduce this range.

"Irwin's bakery is a local company with whom we have had a long term trading relationship and we are delighted to have strengthened this partnership further as a result of awarding them this contract."

Irwin's celebrated its centenary year in 2012 and remains a family-run business with grandsons Brian and Niall Irwin playing an integral role.
