New man at head of law firm

Law firm Carson McDowell has appointed a new managing partner. Michael Johnston, who previously headed up the firm's corporate and commercial team, takes over from Alan Reilly, who will remain at the firm as a property law consultant.

He will be responsible for managing the 18 partners and 38 solicitors whilst running and promoting the business in Northern Ireland. Mr Reilly said: "Michael will do a fantastic job - he has been with the firm for over 20 years and is an excellent corporate and commercial lawyer as well as a well-respected business figure. He is the right man to drive the firm through the next period of growth."

Mr Johnston said: "I am delighted to take up the role of managing partner at Carson McDowell. The firm has really grown over the last six years and with over 100 staff my role will be very much focused on managing the organisation as well as spending more time with our clients, listening to them and ensuring we are providing an even better and more cohesive service to them.

"Everything is in place to ensure the firm remains competitive and well-placed to advise Northern Ireland's leading businesses."

The firm acts for over 30 of Northern Ireland's Top 100 Companies and other leading public and private sector organisations.
