New strategy celebrates fine food being served up by local producers
A new food promotion strategy was unveiled yesterday in Belfast by sector body Food NI.
It launched 'Our Food, So Good', a brand which will be used to promote local produce at events and in retail stores.
"Northern Ireland is home to some of the finest fresh food in the world," John Best, Chairman of Food NI said.
"We have developed the 'Our Food, So Good' message to help encourage the pride we can share in our local food, particularly during 2012 - such an important year for tourism in Northern Ireland."
Food NI also launched its 2012 Taste of Ulster Guide to the audience of hospitality sector representatives, including Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Michelle O'Neill.
The guide has lists of over 130 award-winning Northern Ireland eateries; a look behind the scenes at local food businesses such as Irwin's Bakery and Mash Direct; recipes from Dale Farm, Moy Park and Hastings Hotels and a guide to top events taking place throughout 2012.
