The NITB has unveiled £1 million autumn/winter campaign to encourage residents of Northern Ireland and the Republic to get out and about and explore more of what’s on offer.
The campaign will run across television, radio, press, online and outdoor media until mid December and aims to boost tourist numbers and visitor spend over the coming months by positioning Northern Ireland as a convenient, must-see, great value destination for short breaks and day trips.
By highlighting tourist attractions, festivals, events, activities and accommodation offers, NITB’s Destination PR and Marketing manager Ruth Burns believes that the new campaign will encourage more people to visit different areas of Northern Ireland.
“Our new autumn/winter campaign is designed to encourage people living here to think again about what Northern Ireland has to offer and to rediscover what is on their own doorstep by taking a short break somewhere close to home,” said Ms Burns
“You can travel anywhere in no more than two hours which means less stress and less hassle, not to mention more time to enjoy your short break.
“There is always something new to discover in Northern Ireland and the autumn and winter seasons can be wonderful times of the year to explore the region’s many mountains, lakes, forests and parks with plenty of beautiful scenery guaranteed,” she added.
“There are also loads of fantastic events taking place over the next few months to keep everyone entertained including the Belfast Festival at Queen’s, Cinemagic film and television festival and of course the Halloween celebrations in various parts of the country.
“November will also prove to be an exciting month and as part of Belfast Music Week, Northern Ireland plays host to the MTV EMAs, one of the world’s most prestigious music awards. Christmas too will be a magical family affair with craft fairs, continental markets and opportunities to see Santa.

The television and radio adverts will feature the soundtrack ‘Look Around’ by young Londonderry band Future Chaser, who were the winners of a national song competition organised by NITB to find a new soundtrack for the campaign.
