Northern Ireland call centre Gem bought by US firm

One of Northern Ireland's biggest call centre firms has been bought over by an American company.

There will be no job losses or major changes at homegrown Gem, which has been acquired by California-based firm Concentrix Corporation.

Gem has around £16m in annual revenues and employs around 700 staff in Northern Ireland and Hungary.

The firm has sites at Lanyon Place and East Bridge Street in Belfast and Claremont International Business Centre in Londonderry.

It was established in 2000 as a privately owned outsource contact centre providing services across email, telephone, live chat, social media and mail. Its chief executive, Philip Cassidy, will remain in position.
