Northern Ireland council celebrates its status as magnet for business investment
Lisburn Castlereagh is now "firmly on the map" as a location for business investment, an event has heard. The area is home to employers including Coca-Cola HBC, plastics firm Boomer Industries, doors company Assa Abloy and car parts maker Montupet UK.
Now Lisburn and Castlereagh Council has held an event to celebrate the level of business investment in the area.
Last month a Barclays index named the council area as Northern Ireland's number one investment hotspot.
Councillor Uel Mackin, chairman of the council's economic development committee, said it had a wide programme to help grow the area's economy.
"Our efforts are paying off and we are starting to see the results with Lisburn Castlereagh now firmly on the map as an area for business and investment.
"We are ideally located on the main Belfast to Dublin economic corridor with excellent infrastructure and broadband speeds." And he said that with the Barclays' announcement, along with Department of Education research revealing that pupils at schools in the area were the mostly likely to go to university, "there has never been a better time to display the strengths and opportunities in our area".
