Northern Ireland quarry firm in major new Dutch order
A Northern Ireland firm is to supply 55,000 tonnes of stone for a road in Holland.
Quarrying firm Conexpo's latest deal follows a 200,000-tonne order for the new A15 extension to the Port of Rotterdam - Europe's busiest motorway. Conexpo sources one million tonnes of gritstone every year from its Co Down quarries.
The stone is processed and exported from its £5m quayside plant on a site in Belfast Harbour Estate.
Conexpo, which is owned by the McCluskey family, was founded 25 years ago. It also has a hub at Avonmouth Docks in Bristol.
