Odyssey Pavilion Belfast solar farm 'size of 12 tennis courts'

By John Mulgrew

Work is under way to build a huge solar farm on top of the Odyssey Pavilion in Belfast - equivalent in size to 12 tennis courts.

SSE Airtricity is working with the Odyssey Trust to develop the solar photo-voltaic array. When completed next month, it will generate enough renewable energy to offset roughly 200 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Brian Connolly, general manager of SSE Airtricity energy services, said it was an "exciting and innovative way for us to bring further benefits of renewable energy to the complex".
