Oscar de la Renta's New York store fitted out by Belfast company
A New York store showcasing the work of a designer who has dressed First Ladies, supermodels and actresses will be fitted out by a Belfast company.
Portview Fit-Out is working on a 'fabulous, darling' interior refit for Oscar de la Renta's new concept store on Madison Avenue after finishing the first in London's Mayfair earlier this year.
The company is overseeing the build from Belfast with weekly conference calls with on-site American builders in a contract worth an undisclosed sum.
Oscar de la Renta, founded by the Dominican Republic-born designer of the same name in 1965, had a 150 sq m store in the designer shopping district before buying another unit next door. The two will be combined to more than double the sales area for the lavish evening wear that made the designer's name and has been modelled by First Ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.
Portview's Sean McEvoy said: "The existing store is being extended and we are co-ordinating that process from Northern Ireland because of our experience with the first new Oscar de la Renta store in London."
