Post-quake production in Japan continues to grow

Japan's industrial production rose for a second straight month as factories continued to recover after the sharp downturn from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, the government has said.

Industrial output rose 5.7% in May from the previous month, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry report. In April, production was up 1.6%.

The May production numbers were lower than the government's forecast of an 8% rise for the month.
