PR agency in Smart expansion to London

By John Mulgrew

A Co Down communications firm is expanding its operations with a new office in London along with 10 new jobs.

It's the first office outside Northern Ireland for Holywood-based Smarts Communicate, which currently has a staff of around 45 people here.

The firm's turnover has increased by around 50% in the space of two years.

It will add seven new jobs in Holywood and a further three in the London office, which will be headed up by managing partner Helen Rainford.

The agency deals with a number of clients across the UK, Europe, Asia and the US.

That includes British Airways, BT, Lidl and drinks brands Johnnie Walker and Guinness.

Pippa Arlow, joint managing director of Smarts Communicate, said: "With 20 years of in-market experience and a decade of global PR experience behind us, our business has been transformed into a highly competitive international player and we believe the time is right to extend our operational footprint into London.

"This move allows us to compete on a wider scale and is the first in a number of exciting steps for us."
