Precision Group hits £10m turnover as exports grow

By Margaret Canning

Business and industry services firm, the Precision Group, has said it reached turnover of around £10m this year and is now attracting orders from China.

The company, which has offices in Belfast and Campsie in Co Londonderry, now employs over 300 people and said growth had come after restructuring and investment.

Precision Group recently acquired Chieftain Insulation, which specialises in asbestos removal and thermal insulation.

The business's other services include facility management, asbestos removal, thermo-chemical cleaning, industrial cleaning, specialist welding and mechanical and heating services.

John McFadden, company founder and board member, said: "Having started the company over 30 years ago, I'm thrilled to see it grow from a local cleaning company to become one of Northern Ireland's most diverse business service providers. Having recently restructured the company and appointed a new chairman and managing director, who have brought significant strategic management and business experience, the Precision Group has gone from strength to strength."

He continued: "We have seen rapid growth - particularly in the power industry - and we expect this trend to continue over the coming years."

Managing director, Kevin Williams, added: "As well as recent restructuring and acquisitions, we have made a significant investment in the continued up-skilling of our workforce, who are increasingly able to deliver very specialist technical services to business and industry."

He said the firm had attracted orders from China for its process equipment refurbishment.

The company was set up as a cleaning firm in 1982 and has built a name in asbestos removal.

Chairman Jim Stewart said it was also exploring markets in Asia in oil, gas and power.

"Global economic recovery - as well as an appetite for growth from businesses at home - means we have signed a number of significant contracts recently in both the public and private sectors and we hope to announce these soon.

"We have also recently rebranded the company and this, coupled with our positive reputation among our customers, means we are confident of continued expansion in line with our company growth strategy."
