Property auction sees £3m in sales

By Heather McGarrigle

A property auction last week brought in £3m of sales.

Wilsons Auctions held the land and property sale last Thursday at its headquarters in Mallusk.

More than 68% of the 60 available lots were either sold or are pending immediate sale and £3m is expected to have changed hands once the vending process is complete.

An additional auction room had to be opened to accommodate visitors to the auction and bidders packed the auction halls.

Wilsons Auctions Group property manager, Richard Bell said: "The success of this auction illustrates that buyers are out there - if the price is right. The main auction hall was jam-packed with bidders and many popular lots surpassed the reserve price."

A two bed apartment in County Monaghan sold for just £22,000 whilst £292,000 was secured for a property in Piney Hills, Belfast.

Mr Bell said most properties sold at 20% to 40% above their guide price.
