Putting province on the global stage in Cannes again

Belfast commercial property law specialists Davidson McDonnell will be attending the global property symposium MIPIM in Cannes next month. Here, Ross Davidson outlines the importance of Northern Ireland having strong representation at the event, which attracts more than 20,000 industry professionals from across Europe

It's billed as the world's most influential international property event, with sector leaders from office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport and logistics all represented for four days of networking, learning and transacting.

This will be the first time that Davidson McDonnell has been part of the event, and we intend to use the opportunity to meet with many of our existing client base who will be in attendance alongside key decision makers and stakeholders in the commercial property sector.

The conference provides us, and others like us, with a unique opportunity to meet with the businesses we work with from outside Northern Ireland, accounting for approximately 30% of the work we do.

The increasing activity with external companies is particularly relevant given that 2017 should prove to be a year of solid activity within the Northern Ireland commercial property market. Against this backdrop, the message which Davidson McDonnell will bring to the international audience at MIPIM in respect of our local property market is one of optimism, with the residential development, hotel and leisure and retail sectors performing particularly well over the last 12 months, and further success predicted. It's encouraging for the local sector that there will be a strong Belfast presence at MIPIM. It's vital that business leaders continue to deliver a bold message in respect of Belfast and Northern Ireland as a destination for investment which can offer good levels of return and access to a highly skilled labour market and professional services sector.

MIPIM provides an unrivalled opportunity to showcase investment and opportunity on an international stage, and while the market for investment is highly competitive our collective expertise and collaborative approach allows us to effectively promote the significant growth opportunities that exist in Northern Ireland to a national and international audience.
