Republic yields £36m payday for fit-out firm

A fit-out firm in Newry has won deals worth more than €46m (£36m) in the Republic since the start of the year, it announced today.

Mac-Interiors has also finished its first big deal in Belfast for 2016 after fitting out the offices of advisory firm Davy Private Clients in Donegall Square in the city.

Mac was set up in 2002 and has offices in Newry, Dublin, London and Hamburg, employing 65 people.

The firm said it had recruited another 12 people following its success in the Republic, where it has fitted out premises for tech firms such as Oracle and HubSpot, and financial providers FIL and Aercap.

US-based HubSpot this week announced it was creating 320 new jobs as it opened its new offices in Dublin’s Docklands. The firm already employs 200 people.

Mac-Interiors managing director Paul McKenna said: “Over the past year we have seen an increase in the number of new contracts coming to market in Belfast. The quality of Grade A office space is improving but there is still a major shortfall and, as a result of this, more companies are choosing to refurbish existing offices and fit out new space.”
