Revealed: £280m gas-fired Belfast power station plan goes to public consultation

By John Mulgrew

Developers behind a new £280m gas-fired power station in Belfast say they plan to submit formal plans for the scheme early next year. A public consultation is being held on proposals to develop the plant at Airport Road West on the Belfast Harbour Estate.

It's thought the scheme could create 700 jobs during construction, and 50 once completed.

Ciaran Devine, director of Belfast Power Ltd, said it is "good news for the local economy and will also help to achieve security of electricity supply".
