Sales dip 40% for pre-pay phones

Monaghan Mushrooms has signed a two-year deal with a Belfast firm to provide off-shore software development support.

CARPHONE Warehouse said connections fell by more than 16% at the end of 2011 after a slump in demand for pre-pay mobiles. The retailer, which has 2,400 outlets across Europe, said the pre-pay market as a whole fell by 40% in the UK during the last quarter, which it partially blamed on a lack of smartphones in the sector.
