Sales plummet for London taxi producer

The maker of the London taxi reported a near 10% drop in UK sales as drivers shy away from buying new vehicles.

Coventry-based Manganese Bronze said 1,502 vehicles were sold in the UK in the year to December 31, down on 1,653 the previous year, as trade outside London plummeted.

Manganese, 20% owned by China's largest private car maker Geely, said London sales rose 4% to 1,074, while sales in other parts of the UK plunged 31% to 428.
