It's ‘as you were’ at the top of the leaderboard in the Rensburg Sheppards/Business Telegraph School Share Race.
The team from Newbridge Integrated College, Loughbrickland will leave for the Christmas holidays at the top of the class, having stayed there for the fifth consecutive week after a further 2.8% increase in the value of their portfolio. Carrick Grammar and Campbell College remain second and third respectively in a week which saw the FTSE 350 index of leading company shares rise by over 2%.
Abbey Christian Brothers, Newry move back up to fourth place as their portfolio surged in value by almost 4%. Royal School, Dungannon complete the top five, unmoved in fifth.
All but three of the school teams are now showing a positive return on their initial £100,000, while over half have managed to outperform the 2.2% increase in the FTSE350’s value over the past two months since the competition began.
The competition, which has now reached the halfway point, comes to a close in mid-February. The team whose fictional £100,000 has risen the most in value at this point will win gift vouchers as the top prize.
