Sir Alan Sugar in 'buy British plea'

Apprentice star Lord Sugar has issued a rallying cry to buyers across industry and the public sector to purchase more computers from British suppliers.

The multimillionaire peer, who owns computer manufacturer Viglen, promised to employ hundreds of extra staff if he received more contracts to supply PCs to councils and ministries.

If the Government could pay out just a fraction more per computer, it would be a "damn sight cheaper" than keeping people on benefits and would give them dignity and secure employment, he claimed.
